Originally developed by Joseph Pilates in Europe in the early 20th century, it was initially designed to rehabilitate injured soldiers. The first Pilates studio was opened in New York in 1926 and has grown ever since in popularity and stature, initially through the dance and performance fraternity who were quick to realise its benefits.
Today, Pilates is a globally recognised phenomenon with loyal followers and advocates in all corners of the world.

The Pilates system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced.
